I would rather die. For those not in the know, the “cool” thing to do now is take photos of yourself, put them in a collage and put horrible captions on them of what you are “saying” in each pic. This fad needs to be stopped immediately.

I can’t believe some of these comments. She’s just a child! She probably hasn’t even had her first period yet but some people still feel it’s perfectly okay to determine how picky she should be. She’s at that stage where she’s probably just starting to notice boys and isn’t ready to get romantically involved with them anyways. Let her be as picky as she wants!
I have a daughter around the same age and this is all the rage amongst her and her friends, although none of the ones that they posted reference boys. For the most part, it’s harmless.

In the case of the girl, I don’t remember being this stupid when I was young. Why give stupidity a free pass just because it’s a young person being stupid? Making arrogant, superficial statements about it being okay to be picky is stupid at all ages. Just because she’s young, and just because she’s doing something other young girls do doesn’t mean it’s okay.
I’m tired of parents feeding their kids delusional fantasies and putting them on a pedestal, then wonder why they end up with brats. Be real with your kids. Don’t basically tell them that only an out-of-realms, famous pop band is good for them and all other guys are garbage. They’re going to be really shallow when they grow up.

@Panda – the same could be said for being mean or judgmental. On the other hand judging her based on appearance seems okay, because that is exactly what she is doing … she kind of opened that door. Just doesn’t feel right to pick on a kid though … even a shallow one.

Hummm…what concerns me here is that, on the one hand, it’s good for a young woman to develop self-confidence. On the other hand, having an honest grasp on the nature of things and reality is going to keep a young woman from being emotionally knocked over. You see this kind of issue a lot lately, since it seems that all parents try to convince their children that they are “special”. Even the schools do this now; I couldn’t believe it when a parent told me that now, in schools, no one can be the “winner” at sports anymore. It has to be an “everybody’s a winner” kind of thing. That mentality only deflects emotional blows. If you can get a grasp on your prospects early on, you are going to be more solid emotionally throughout life. And, of course, none of this bears any relevance to “success” or “happiness” — people of all types find those things or don’t, whether they are smart, rich, attractive or not.
there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. I told my kids that arrogance is never attractive. There’s also a line between having enough self esteem to put yourself out there and needing to put yourself out there to get the esteem you lack. When I see these, I feel sorry for the kids because they obviously have no one giving them the positive feedback they need.

My god. One Direction are little kiss asses to women. And she has too high of expectations for her looks. She would get an average guy, not a look alike of one of the One Direction boys. I’m 30 and high school wasn’t that long ago…but I am amazed at everything about the generation in school now! As if once 90s born kids hit school, the percentage of horrible trends skyrocketed. I blame it on: Yuppy parents, social networking, and rock music dying.
The haircuts these kids have are so terrible. Girls used to like the older guy who had facial hair, rode a motorcycle, and was didn’t take shit from anyone. Now it seems that high school girls prefer boys that are THINNER than themselves, have lesbian hair cuts, and haven’t hit puberty yet. Also, those damn clothes and hats are disgusting.
I’m married to a great and gorgeous woman. She’s 25 but even her age range is identical to me in my 30s. Goes back to my born in 80s vs 90s theory. We have two sons, one is 20 months old, the other is 3 weeks. We refused to give them the wussified baby names people give lately. Aiden, Grayson, Braydon, Jaydon, Skyllar, etc…makes me sick.
This girl will grow up and find she’s 24 years old, probably 40lbs heavier due to her already chubby genetics, and figure out that her previous standards for male attractiveness are in direct correlation to how men view her. This sad fact will make her single and lonely.
I was shallow in high school. Still am in some ways as the first thing I noticed about my wife was that I thought she was very attractive. Looking back, I am not sure what made her so picky. If she was a normal nice girl than who cares. But if my buddies and I saw this on facebook back then, we would of laughed at how disgusting she looks and she probably would of been victim to a nickname. One girl similar was called “horse face killer” because she was so into her body, clothes, make-up, etc, but her face could shatter glass when she looked at her reflection. Sorry for long post….these kids are just so annoying today. I won’t accept any facebook friend under 20 years old. Not even family.
